Bridges in Structural steel Sections
  • Steel bridges are a design solution that can handle all necessary spans

Steel Sections is widely used around the world for the construction of bridges from the very large to the very small. It is a versatile and effective material that provides efficient and sustainable solutions. Steel Sections has long been recognised as the economic option for a range of bridges. It dominates the markets for long span bridges, railway bridges, footbridges, and medium span highway bridges. It is now increasingly the choice for shorter span highway structures as well. Society gains in many ways from the benefits delivered by steel bridge solutions. Landmark steel bridges embody good design, they are fast to build, and have stimulated the regeneration of many former industrial, dock and canalside areas.

  • Steel bridges are an essential feature of a country’s infrastructure and landscape. Few man-made structures combine the technical with the aesthetics in such an evocative way. Look closely at the next ‘landmark’ bridge you see; the chances are that it is made of steel Sections.

Types of steel supplied
  • H-shaped steel for bridges: The cross-section is in the shape of “H” and is usually used for the main beams and supporting structures of bridge towers. It has the characteristics of high strength, lightweight, and good earthquake resistance.
  • Tubular steel for bridges: its cross-section is round or square. It is usually used for edge beams, suspension cableways, guardrail columns and other parts of bridges. It has the characteristics of bending resistance, corrosion resistance, and beautiful appearance.
  • Steel plates for bridges: Steel bridge decks and pier shell plates are commonly used in bridges and have the characteristics of high strength, corrosion resistance, and anti-skid.
  • Box steel for bridges: It has a box-shaped structure with a rectangular or square cross-section. It is usually used for arch ribs, beams, box girders and other parts of bridges. It has the characteristics of high strength, bending resistance, corrosion resistance and other characteristics.
  • Ribbed steel bars for bridges: steel bars with multiple ribs arranged longitudinally. They are usually used to reinforce and support reinforced concrete bridges and have the characteristics of earthquake resistance and distortion resistance.
