Using S460 grade steels for structural sections presents numerous advantages for multi-storey and high-rise buildings thanks to their optimum balance of cost and efficiency: reduction of the size of the structural sections, especially for columns.

The steel cross-section profiles of S460 are produced by automated laser welding (S460M or S460J0 according to European standard EN 10025:2004), a welding process that affects the chemical composition of the material and thereby increases the yield strength.

S460 steel structure profiles are mainly used for:
  • pillars of multi-story building
  • Beams for short and medium span bridges
  • Diagonals and chords of trusses
Earthquake-resistant design: "clean columns" and stronger columns without expensive web reinforcement
Reduce weight and reduce costs
Due to the optimal balance of cost and efficiency, the use of S460 grade steel for structural profiles brings numerous advantages to multi-storey and high-rise buildings:
  • Reduce the size of structural sections, especially columns
  • Lightweight buildings with equivalent structural safety
  • Better solderability, no or less preheating and less soldering material
  • Weight savings of 10-30% when using S460 (65 ksi) instead of S355 (50 ksi): 15% weight reduction for columns and 20-35% weight reduction for trusses.
  • High-strength weldable fine-grained structural steels offer good weldability in all conventional welding processes and these steel profiles are used in welded components that must withstand high strains.
Typical applications are bridges, long-span structures, high-rise buildings and other building structures.

Profile advantages
  • Reduced Costs: Lower weight and lighter foundations reduce overall construction costs
  • Increased Space: Lighter sections will increase the overall space within the building
  • Lower embodied carbon: carbon content reduction is directly proportional to weight reduction
  • Reduced carbon emissions: lighter weight means less transportation and less consumption of raw materials
Quality Assurance
  • As a structural profile manufacturer, our steel products have received the CE marking and have been tested to the highest standards, providing quality and assurance to the construction market.
  • We are ISO 9001:2015 certified, and all materials are tested in our independently accredited ISO 17025 testing laboratory to the highest standards, ensuring full traceability.
  • Our S460 structural profiles are manufactured according to EN 10025-4. Following this specification, strict impact tests are conducted at specified temperatures to ensure full compliance with construction product regulations.
  • We are also certified under the environmental and sustainability standard BES 6001, which ensures our commitment to responsible sourcing of materials.
Technical Support
  • Our experienced team of laser welding experts provides specialized technical support to our customers, including detailed high-strength low-alloy profile solutions for addressing specific processing challenges and developing new and more advanced steel grades for increasingly demanding applications.
Our S460M, S460J0, S460G2+Q, and S460NL high-strength profiles are manufactured in China according to stringent quality standards, featuring higher tensile and yield strength compared to existing steel grades.
